Please read the great interviews in DANS Magazine, the Dutch Dance Magazine, and in DANCE Informa USA, about my idea to create a new fashion and look of the everyday Pointe Shoes. The new look is colorful, dancing and artsy. The feedback on social media was super positive as I think this look is meeting a need of ballerina’s who want more choice and variation in pointe shoes. Awesome! Lots of pictures also on Instagram: meeke_mutter.art
I designed a new fashionable look of the every day Pointe Shoe. The new look is artsy, dancing and colorful. My designs are at the moment developed into beautiful, durable, cute and removable pointe stickers the ballerina can elegantly and easy adhere to the everyday pointe shoe to flair up the shoe in the ballet class. The pointe stickers are called “Pointe Elegantia’s”. Each color has a positive name like Classy, Bliss and Blossom as I want to encourage the ballerina to keep putting on their pointe shoes despite the often frustrating pain! My dancers come to life on stage! It is my honor that Yuka Kawazu, director and super talented choreographer of dance company Danse En L’Air in NYC used my dance calligraphy painting “Two Princesses” as inspiration for her new dance piece. The choreography is beautiful and was performed among other at the Ballet Arts Showcase. So nice:) See the perfect blue wigs!
Dance and my own movements, internalized in my body, are a great source of inspiration for my art on canvas. Also nature, colors and calligraphy. I never use an example like a dance picture or a dance model when I paint. It just flows out of my hand. Herewith a short dance improvisation in slow motion.
Meeke Mutter’s dance painting titled “Seduction” was used for the vibrant design of the flyer and poster for the big showcase of Ballet Arts, October 9th 2016 at City Center Studios in NYC. I was really happy with the results. Ballet Arts also made a beautiful animation of this painting. See my homepage.
